True Sake Newsletter June 2014

Posted by Beau Timken in 2014, June, Monthly Intro, Newsletter

Dear Sake Lover,

Welcome to the 118th Issue of America’s sake-centric Newsletter. In this sentimental issue learn how to spoil your dad on Father’s Day, pick 10 sakes that Dad should taste, read why you should drink sake on Japan’s Mountain Day, discover which sakes medaled and why at this year’s International Wine Challenge from London, taste the famous “6 Ships” sake from Akita Prefecture, find out what new store arrivals are popping, and try to figure out if honjozo sakes are boozy!

In this issue:

    Consider this...

In a word the typical Japanese business folk work too hard and too much. So much so they don’t even take all of their vacation days, with the average being just 8 days off per year! In an effort to get the workers to relax and perhaps be more productive the Japanese Government just announced the creation of the 18th national holiday called Yama Day or the day to celebrate the mountains of Japan. We recommend drinking sake on this Mountain Day and you can start with Otokoyama “Man’s Mountain” or Ohyama “Big Mountain”
