Beau-Zone Layer - Urakasumi Honjozo Genshu
From Miyagi Prefecture. SMV: -1 Acidity: 1.5
If you like light, clean, fruity sakes then move along - shoo! - beat it! I tasted this rich and "immense" sake at a restaurant in Shibuya in Tokyo, and fell in love with its layers and layers of semi-sweet rice and caramel flavors - so much so that during the meal I called the owner of the brewery and said "get this baby to the US." And he did! How can I say it? This is sake drinker's sake. If you like big and plush brews with floors and floors of rich and full-bodied flavors then this gold-foiled monster is for you. I get a lot of deep rice sweetness on a chewy flow that feels superb in the mouth. The "Genshu" factor puts this stallion at 18%, but you wouldn't know it with how smooth and velvety the sake drinks. Go big or go home? You are home with this superb sake from a tremendous brewery.
