ASK BEAU – When is your next trip to Japan?” BONUS – see below

Funny you should ask!

Amazingly it has been quite some time since my last visit to Japan – Ishikawa Prefecture – so I have been itching for a return. And a return is not only in the works, but it’s a reality.

Ask Beau March 2014In mid-March I will make my official debut in Akita Prefecture home to snow and sake! I’ve never been to this northern part of Tohoku and I am supremely excited to get the sake sense of the style and flavors of the area. We sell a lot of Akita sakes in the store, so it’s always good to visit the source for more information that I can pass on to the True customers.

On a professional note sometimes when I visit a prefecture I have to do so judicially. As True Sake has relationships with many importers I try to spread my visit to breweries from as many of the importers as possible. This is a tricky task, and for the upcoming trip I am missing two breweries that I really wanted to visit, but didn’t have time on account of the fact that I am visiting breweries from other importer’s portfolios. Don’t get me wrong every sake brewery is awesome and I am so lucky to visit them in the first place.

In case you would like to taste my trip as I proceed through sake wonderland here is my line-up: Takashimizu – a brewery that does not export yet!! Aramasa (Junmai) Taiheizan (Kimoto Junmai and Kimoto Junmai Daiginjo) Dewatsuru (Kimoto Junmai) Kariho (Junmai and Junmai Ginjo) Chokkaisan (Junmai Daiginjo) Yuki no Bosha (Yamahai Junmai and Junmai Ginjo and Daiginjo).

So here is a bonus to you great readers who actually get all the way down to Ask Beau – From March 12th – 21st you will receive a 10% discount on all of the sakes from Akita Prefecture mentioned above if and when you say: “I am tasting Akita Prefecture with Beau”.

Enjoy Akita! I know that I will!
