Beau Timken
Beau-Zone Layer – Tsukinokatsura "Iwai"
Okay folks! This is a very special sake that is really interesting on several levels. First of all the sake is named after the very famous Kyoto-based sake brewing rice varietal known as Iwai. This rice just so happens to be the most expensive brewing rice in the sake industry! (Even more pricy than the extremely popular Yamadanishiki.) What’s more interesting is that the brewers have decided to make a Junmai sake milled to 80% using a rice that is best suited for the Daiginjo category! The result is a very round and flavorful sake that is semi rich, creamy, and super smooth. Look for hints of butterscotch, creamy caramel, and lots of rich sweet rice tones. This is an extremely well balanced sake that does well at room temperature and with a light chill. And yes the cool label does mean something and it has to do with the name of the brewery!X
