Sake Images - Photos From The Soul Of Sake July 2011

Posted by Beau Timken in 2011, July, Newsletter, Sake Images
Please be a part of our new "Sake Images" section by contributing your very select sake related photographs. I'm not looking for a batch of your pictures, rather I'd like to see one or two really powerful shots that could be in a brewery or at your own home tasting or event. Quality over quantity here people! And then write one or two sentences (if you want) about the picture that we can share with the other readers.

Please send these very specific and stellar photos to info @ truesake.com with the subject line "Sake Images"

This month's sake image comes from Elliot Kallen from Santa Rosa, CA:

"Hi folks, here's a shot of the sake barrel display at Matsuo taisha (Shinto shrine) in Arashiyama. Why sake barrels at a shrine? Matsuo taisha is home to the kami (nature spirit or god) of water. Sake brewers come to Matsuo taisha to pray for good water for their brewery. (If I'm not mistaken, Beau, this is where you were inducted into the ranks of Sake Samuarai.) Hope this works for you."

(Indeed you are correct Elliot, it's where they hold each year's induction for the Sake Samurai, and double indeed - it does work for me!! Great pic!)
