Sake Images - Photos From The Soul Of Sake September 2012

Posted by Beau Timken in 2012, Newsletter, Sake Images, September
Please be a part of our "Sake Images" section by contributing your very select sake related photographs. I'm not looking for a batch of your pictures, rather I'd like to see one or two really powerful shots that could be in a brewery or at your own home tasting or event. Quality over quantity here people! And then write one or two sentences (if you want) about the picture that we can share with the other readers.

Please send these very specific and stellar photos to info @ with the subject line "Sake Images".

This month's Sake Image comes from Del Sorenson who spent some time up at the small sake brewery in Vancouver BC called the Artisan Sake Brewery that makes a line of sake called O'Sake. (I have written about Masa's kura extensively in past issues)

True Sake

This is a picture of a shubo "tank" that they use for their yeast starter. To me it looked like a large soup pot, but I guess a small brewery doesn't have a need for a big tank. After seeing quite large tanks at big breweries in Japan I thought this was a joke, but it's not. It's real.
