Ask Beau - "Any New Year's Resolutions this year?"
Indeed! Thank you for referring to that very long list of resolutions in 2010. What's funny is that I then scored myself on the resolutions with either a "Success" or "Fail." Click here and if necessary scroll down to "Ask Beau" section:
My Sake New Year's Resolution for this coming year is to keep driving my point of looking for value in the sake market. Sake is relatively expensive and some sakes are simply not worth the price. You'd be better served to fly to Japan and buy the same sakes on the cheap and smuggle them home! (I did not just type that.) But that isn't really feasible now is it? So what do we do?
I "resolve" to make a list of the best quality for value sakes in several price points that are available in the US. It will be sort of a "you cannot do better than this sake at this price point" list that will be for sakes in the $10's - $20's - $30's - $40's - $50's - $75's - $100's.
Of course the list will be from my perspective unless I put together a tasting panel to really make it "accurate" and less "subjective.' But at the end of the day I think it will represent a solid list of sakes that drink great at a great price point. I am totally open to suggestions for naming this list.
