Beau-Zone Layer - Iyo Densetsu "The Legend"
From Ehime Prefecture. Honjozo. SMV: 2.0 Acidity: Mystery
|This is the first ever review where I used the word "WARNING," because this sake is like a thug in the glass. If you are not a sake drinker through and through then keep walking, as this Beau-Zone selection is not for you! Why? Because 19% alcohol has never tasted so impactful. Creamy soft, fat and chewy this viscous full mouth sake has serious legs that creep down the side of the glass. Look for rich rice sweetness, hints of the nebulous umami, white chocolate, and a breakfast cereal flavor profile. Deep cocoa tones slip and slide on a jagged fluid that ends with a long pronounced tail. This is a sucker punch sake in velvet gloves. Beware of this "Buzz Maker! The only restaurant to serve this sake on the West Coast is Sushi Ran in Sausalito, and owner Yoshi Tome is a serious sake drinker so put one and one together and you get 19.5% liquid lunacy that speaks to true connoisseurs.|
