There I was at their Fushimi brewery almost a decade ago, when the then President of Tamanohikri walked to his freezer and said do you want to see something magical? (I knew what he was reaching for because I sold it at True Sake) Sure!
He then acted like a Las Vegas stage performer and poured the sake from the box into the glass pitcher and we both watched as the sake froze into a slushy of sorts! “It’s great on a hot day,” he said with a smile. And indeed this fun sake is great on all days hot, cold, warm, muggy etc because it drinks great frozen, chilled, and even room temp. And guess what I’ve had this brew room temp a lot when I sneak it into ballgames and concerts. Pretty smart heh?
Fun for camping too, but it is very special to actually freeze it! Just remember to pour the sake, which should be in the freezer for at least 10 hours, into a glass or pitcher that is as equally frozen for the full slushy effect. A warm glass loses the “magic” way too quickly!
