New Store Arrivals – Tsukinokatsura, Kubota, & Esshu

Well folks! Two of these brews are returns, as in we have carried them before, but they are back in the line-up. And the 3rd is totally new to the store.  We didn't mention several other sakes that are back in the mix, so pop in some time and see all of the other new ones!

Tsukinokatsura Heiankyo "Ancient Kyoto" 
From Kyoto Prefecture. Junmai Daiginjo. SMV: +0.5 Acidity: 1.6 
Yay! This sake was discontinued by our favorite importers, but we said that we loved it so much that they are only importing this killer Junmai Daiginjo for us! Using one of the most expensive rice varietals it is a smooth and flavorful walk in the best that Kyoto sake has to offer! WORD: Smooth WINE: Pinot Noir/Expansive whites BEER: Belgian Ales FOODS: Sushi, sashimi, creamy dishes, fruit salads, cheese plates. $70/720ml

 

Kubota “Tsugu” 
From Niigata Prefecture. Junmai Daiginjo. 
Okay! I have to admit that I have not tried this brew yet. But knowing Asahi Shuzo I am certain it is a supremely clean venture into the Ultra Daiginjo category. It seems like every brewery is going over the top to get to an extreme milling rate, but this brewery was one of the first to go to 33% then to 28% years ago! This is an extremely limited brew, with only 2,500 in existence. Each bottle is numbered. Come be a part of sake history and taste Kubota "Tsugu"! $700/720ml

 

Esshu Sakura Biyori “Cherry Blossom Season” 
From Niigata Prefecture. Ginjo. SMV: +1 Acidity: 1.0 Great! This extremely drinkable ginjo is back on the shelves. It’s a seasonally released brew that is one of those super flavor sakes that drinks clean and refreshing. Totally worth tryinhg this brew on a hot night, because it is so cool! WORD: Gentle WINE: Soft reds/Dry whites BEER: Light ales FOODS: Sushi and Sashimi for sure! Light fare with a hint of saltiness. $37/720ml
