Top Ten List – Ten Medal Worthy Sakes From The IWC
Many moons ago I used to reel against “Gold Medal” sakes, because everybody is the champion of his or her own palate and one person’s gold medal may just happen to be another person’s garbage medal sake. It’s all relative.
But then I started judging more and more competitions, and my opinion has evolved. There is merit in tasting what a solid panel of judges deems medal worthy. It’s sort of like tasting what is the most agreeable to a group of educated sake drinkers.
That said I would say that there is no yearly template of what a certain category should taste like. Each year’s tastings produce new benchmarks for flavors, feelings, and balance standards. How did this year’s taste? You be the judge! (Click the links to read full reviews!)
