Shirataki Jozen Junmai Daiginjo Genshu Red “Celebration”SE28

This amazing “Year of The Rooster” sake has wonderful nose filled with candy, grape, blueberry, and rose water aromas. Talk about a celebration in the palate! This stunning Daiginjo Genshu is one of those sakes that leaves you speechless when trying to explain how rice and water only can taste like a vibrant fruit plate. How do they do it? So smooth and yet so juicy, this brew “Wows” you with each sip. It’s viscous and chewy, but velvety and round and there is a very special fruity tail. Look for fleshy licks of pear, grape, blueberry and tropical fruit tones that turn to honey as the fluid warms in the mouth. Wine lovers take note of a rice sake that acts like wine in so many capacities, but boldly states I am a starch so pair with me accordingly! WORD: Fruity WINE: Smooth Reds/ Fat Whites BEER: Honey ales FOODS: So good on its own, but full enough to go with clean seafood and shellfish. Cheese and fruit plates. (2017)

Junmai Ginjo Nama Genshu. SMV: +3 Acidity: 1.6
The nose on this seasonally released nama from a great brewery in Niigata is filled with cherry, melon, and yeasty elements. Talk about a “live” smooth operator! This full figured brew from a kura that makes light and dry ginjo sake is a walk on the wild, bold, and punchy side. It’s like drinking Jozen Junmai Ginjo on steroids, but with a elegance and complexity that is really drinkable. There are dry fruit flavors such as honeydew melon that compliment the over-all dry ricy feel. Think soft, fluffy, weighty, and a little tingly pop on a proudly smooth fluid. So dry and clean you won’t even notice the 17.5% alcohol elegant punch. WORD: Smooth Wine: Dry reds/Fat crisp whites BEER: crisp ales FOODS: Anything from the ocean or grill and some international spice. (2016)
