Kirin Koshihikari Junmai Daiginjo
The nose on this very tasty sake is a splendid collection of raisin, vanilla, strawberry, sweet rice and bamboo aromas. What the hell is a “round” sake? This one! Round means smooth and round on the edges like amarble and in this case also lush, velevity, viscous, and plump. Talk about a Daiginjo that drinks rich and not particularly fruity. Look for hints of vanilla, honey, nougat, and a touch of banana creme brullee. This sake is extremely well balanced and you can taste the solidness on a slow slide across the palate. Super smooth and of course round! WORD: Round WINE: Pinot Noir/Chewy fat whites BEER: Belgian ales FOODS: Great with shellfish, oysters, grilled fish, and light pastas.
