Kirinzan Junmai Ginjo Shiboritate Nama Genshu "Potari Potari"
The nose on this super seasonal sake is a gorgeous collection of strawberry, honey, melon, and mint aromas. Talk about a sake that walks the walk! First the stunning blue bottle and cool label, then the brew itself that is plump, juicy, full-bodied, and rich. Juicy, minty, bright, and chewy, this sake is very fun! It drinks smooth for being so lively, and that might have to do with a viscous body that hides flavorful hints of melon, mango, honey, and sweet rice. It’s a “Nama Genshu,” which means the sake has not been diluted at the end of the brewing process, but it’s very difficult to find the hidden 17% alcohol content. This brewery is known for tight and lean amazing sake, but this pivot to a full-bodied chewy and fat brew is a great tasting and feeling delight. WORD: Viscous WINE: Full-bodied Reds/Plump Whites BEER: Rich Ales FOODS: Has the body and acidity to go to any red wine cuisine and International spice. (2020)
