Toranoko Junmai Daiginjo "Tiger's Cub"
The nose on one of the most popular sakes at Sake Day 2018 is a collection of cherry, blueberry, melon, sweet rice, and floral aromas. Hey big red wine drinkers this brew is for you! Plump, smooth, and with a little edge this sake drinks slippery in the glass and leaves the palate awake and with a tannin-like dryness. Look for soft layered flavors of pear, apple, and kiwi that form a juicy fluid that is tight, compact, and crisp. There are lots of dried fruit tones that show a hint of vanilla and are slightly tangy as they warm in the glass. A wine glass makes this Tiger Cub all the more cuddly, and for you super palates look for a vein of quince that pulls all of the flavors together. A very balanced Junmai Daiginjo that jumps the boarder to very wine-like! WORD: Crisp WINE: Tannin Reds/Crisp Whites BEER: Crisp Ales FOODS: Clean fare, sushi, sashimi, steamed fish, shellfish, oysters.
