New Store Arrival – The Last Of Fall Draft “Hiyaoroshi” Sakes

New Store Arrivals November 2015a

Kikusui "Hiyaoroshi '15"
From Niigata Prefecture.
Junmai Ginjo Hiyaoroshi

SMV: +2 Acidity: 1.4

This seasonally released single pasteurized "draft" sake has a very gentle nose filled with mineral water, steamed rice, maple syrup and rice krispy aromas. Say hello to a great "introduction" to Hiyaoroshi-style sake! We all know the tasty Junmai Ginjo from Kikusui. Well, this version of that sake is a wonderful example of the relaxed, semi-rich, and semi-fat style of fall released nama sake. And this brew drinks great. It's balanced and full-bodied but drinks light and super smooth! Did I say super smooth? It's layered, soft, and has that feel good richness that pairs so well with Autumn flavors.

Try it room temperature to get more flavor and feeling, or chilled to get that smoothness in a glass. It's not bright and fruity like the regular JG, rather it is toasty and on the savory side. Thank you Kikusui for showing us the splendor of Fall released sake! WORD: Velvety WINE: Round reds/Soft whites BEER: Creamy Ales FOODS: Rich and Savory Fall Flavors! PRICE: $32/720
