Skurnik's Trac Le will be pouring fantastic sakes from Matsuura Shuzo, makers of Shishi no Sato, based out of Ishikawa Prefecture. Matsuura Shuzo was founded in 1772 in the mountain town of Yamanaka Onsen, famed for centuries for its hot spring baths and dedicated craftspeople. Under the guidance of 14th generation owner-brewmaster Fumiaki Matsuura, they have developed an understated, yet compelling style of sake sought after by connoisseurs. Subtle aromas, clean, clear flavors and a structure with strength and backbone. Primarily only enjoyed locally in Ishikawa and at a select number of restaurants in Tokyo, True Sake is lucky to see a bit of Shishi no Sato sake brought into the States. Be on the lookout for the debuting limited edition nama being poured!

August 16th – Yaegaki Tasting (Mu, Ritsu, Roga) with Momoka Orime

Momoka Orime will be at True Sake to showcase the many wares of Yaegaki Hyogo and Yaegaki California. Momoka-san will be pouring classics such as Mu, a Junmai Daiginjo that has been heralded as an all-time classic, as well as their new low ABV sake called Ritsu which is a hit with the newer sake drinking crowd, as well as their California made craft sake, Roga. Come see how such a classic and legendary brand applies their long-standing traditional techniques to sake that is made in the Golden State.

True Sake welcomes back Chika Ohata Martino for another Sake Discoveries tasting. This time around, Chika will be pouring a a bold and fresh nama from Amabuki, a beautiful Umeshu from Nanbu Bijin with no sugar added, and a fun limited edition red yeast variant of the Niwa no Uguisu Doburoku, which is the precursor to Nigori and is truly unfiltered. Chika and Sake Discoveries represent some of the most respected sake brands in all of Japan. Come try them all and go on a wild ride!
