Holiday Sake Gifts – We Make Sake Gift Giving Easy
This is a truism of note – whenever a customer comes to True Sake to purchase a sake gift or present throughout the year we say “Thank you for gifting sake!” We also say that they are super intelligent human beings, because we strongly believe that gifting sake is smart.
This year our very own Chris Cabrera AKA Chris Kringle has put together a list of sake gifts of note, and the specific person who would love that liquid present.
Take it away Chris:
Daruma Masamune Koshu Set
While koshu is a niche within an already niche category, it certainly has a huge cult following. Translated literally to "old alcohol", Koshu is sake aged for a significant amount of time before shipping from the brewery. Intentionally aged. There are many different ways to make Koshu, and many different lengths of time that brewers can choose to age their sake. Shiraki Kosuke Shoten, makers of Daruma Masamune, are the premier makers of koshu, and what better way to explore this growing niche category than with the best in the biz. Included in the set is a 3 year, a 5 year, and a 10 year aged koshu. I've overheard that the bossman Beau Timken likes to create his own blends with the different years.
Who is this for? For the whisky drinker in your life that wants to try something new.
Dassai Mirai Future with Farmers
Global powerhouse Dassai Inc. has done it again with its latest project "Future with Farmers." Nothing goes to waste, as Dassai takes the unwanted "rejected" Yamadanishiki rice aka "Togai" rice and mills it down to 8% to create an elegant and velvety masterpiece. True Sake was humbled and honored to be first to market with this very special project. Try a single digit seimaibuai at a fraction of the cost.
Who is this for? For the Dassai superfan.

Nabeshima Tankan Wataribune
Fukuchiyo Shuzo, makers of Nabeshima, is arguably one the hottest producers from Kyushu right now, and we are lucky to be first to market with Tankan Wataribune, and to have quite the Nabeshima selection right here at True Sake. Fukuchiyo Shuzo likes to brew and experiment with different rice varietals. The Tankan Wataribune has a nice refreshing flavor profile that is unbelievably easy to drink.
Who is this for? For the Junmai Daiginjo drinker who does not like it sweet.
Hakkaisan 8 Year Yukimuro Junmai Daginjo
Niigata powerhouse and household name Hakkaisan ages this Junmai Daiginjo for 8 years in a gigantic snow-filled warehouse aka "Yukimuro." This aging method has been a Niigata tradition for centuries, as it was a way to preserve perishables before refrigeration was invented. Unfortunately, the 8 Year Yukimuro is wildly popular. So popular that Hakkaisan is running out of stock. You can't age sake faster, which is a problem in the whisky world too. Once we're sold out of the 8 Year, we're gonna have to play the waiting game. Act fast, act now! But don't be a hoarder. M'kay?

Hitotoki Sparkling Set (normally $50, on sale for $40) Discount applies when both bottles are added in the cart.
Beau Timken started selling this sparkling set 15 years ago. It's finally back in America and we're excited to carry it again. We've always been fans of Rokkasen in Yamagata Prefecture, and if you try this set for yourself, you'll see why we initially fell in love with this set. The white version is a Junmai, and the rose version features an ancient black rice varietal. Both bottles in the set feature bubbles from in-bottle fermentation, and have been served on first class ANA flights to and from Japan.
Who is this for? That special someone that you plan to spend New Year's Eve with.
Urakasumi Honjozo Genshu
It is no secret that we are friends with Saura Co., makers of Urakasumi. Saura-sama was just recently at the 20th Anniversary of Sake Day, and he had an enormous impact on Beau Timken's sake career path and trajectory. The Honjozo Genshu is a very special bottle to us, as we were one of the first to carry this sake in the United States. Not only is it a bold food-pairing superstar, it's also wrapped in a glorious gold foil, which looks very luxurious and gifty. We heard that there are only 3 people on staff at Saura Co. that can wrap these bottles. Talk about job security!
