In-Store December Tastings – Chris Pulls In An Ozeki & Kome Collective Tasting

December 13th - Ozeki Tasting (Platinum, Souke Ozakaya, and a special surprise) with Master Brewer Kenta Horie and President Yoji Ogawa

I'll never forget the first time I met President Yoji Ogawa and Master Brewer Kenta Horie. It was at True Sake during a mellow Saturday morning with me and the boss Beau-san. Two Japanese guys walk in the shop to browse, and at first glance they seem like our usual customers. "Let us know if you have any questions!" is the phrase we always utter when a customer walks in. The phrase we hear back is, "Hey, that's me", as Kenta-san points and gestures to a bottle of Ozeki Platinum hanging out in our fridge. Our ears perked up, and thus we began a fun dialogue with lots of questions about sake production in Hollister, California. We welcome back Yoji-san and Kenta-san to the True Sake tasting counter. They will be pouring Ozeki Platinum Junmai Daiginjo from California, as well as other fun surprises that are currently in the works, including a Junmai Daiginjo from Japan and a Nama brewed in California that is so top secret, that it's not for sale (but you can try it)! Kenta-san will be leaving for Japan in February, so this might be his last visit to True Sake for a while. So don't miss out on your chance to pick the brain of a Master Sake Brewer!

Bella Pearson is back in the shop showcasing her deep and diverse Kome Collective sake portfolio. This time around Bella will be joined by Chika Martino, the newly anointed Sake Development Specialist with Breakthru Beverage. It is no coincidence that we have a tasting scheduled on the last Saturday before Christmas, and this will be the perfect time to figure out what to get your special someone for the holidays. With both Bella and Chika in the house that day, you can actually tell your gift recipient what their gift should taste like! Yeah, OK, not all gifts have tasting notes, but shoot it's better than getting your spouse a Macaroni Grill gift card, right? But I digress. Come on by on December 20th and hang out with Bella, Chika, and the True Sake Saturday Squad and have a good time.
