The “Beau Zone Layer” – Shinkame “Holy Turtle”

Beau Zone A

The “Beau Zone Layer” – Shinkame “Holy Turtle”
From Saitama Prefecture. Junmai. SMV: +5 Acidity: 1.7

Wait what? Another almost $50 Junmai sake? What the hell is going on? I could get a great Daiginjo for $50! Well, to that I say go for it! But if you want to taste the best a category can get then jump on this Holy Turtle and ride. There has been a trend and an uptick in Junmai sakes that are almost $50 and above – why? First and foremost each sake is priced for that sake and not for a general category average. And some makers put more love into their Junmais, so they are priced for that reason. In this case this Junmai has been aged for two years. And as the review says it is a “Sake drinker’s Junmai.” This brew is a mystery and Christmas all wrapped up in a thick fluid brew that drinks dry! How in the hell do they do that? Look for all of those traditional Junmai flavors of rice and forest floor hints that are definitely not your modern Ginjo-like Junmais. This is the real shit! (Sorry I had to go old school, because this is an old school flavored Junmai that makes you realize how good Junmai sake can actually taste.) Take your Daiginjo goggles off and get back to the serious basics with a world class Junmai that will rock your world.
