August 8th - Suzuki Marketing Tasting with Yusuke Konno

We welcome back to the tasting counter Yusuke Konno from Suzuki Marketing. It's been a long time since we've had Konno-san at the counter, so you're in for a treat. With their eclectic and diverse lineup, you'll get to try two beautiful Omachi sakes made in Gifu Prefecture and Saitama Prefecture, and a beautiful Nigori sake from Iwate Prefecture that has been in high demand and hand-selected by our fearless leader and True Sake founder, Beau Timken. Konno-san has spent time at Koedo Kagamiyama Brewery, so come stop by and pick Konno-san's brain about what it's like to be a sake brewery kurabito!

Alex Bemis is back at the True Sake tasting counter showcasing the legendary Nanbu Bijin from Iwate Prefecture. President of Nanbu Bijin Brewery Kosuke Kuji has been arguably sake's strongest world ambassador, waving the Nanbu Bijin flag proudly all over the world, literally. Alex will be waving that flag too at this tasting, pouring a beautiful Junmai Daiginjo called Shinpaku, the iconic 3-temp Tokubetsu Junmai, as well as a "no-sugar-added" Umeshu that is constantly selling out on our umeshu shelves. You couldn't get a more diverse lineup than this, one that will not only be educational, but very tasty too. Stop by and discover why Nanbu Bijin has earned its place as a legend in sake heritage.

We welcome back to the tasting counter James Beard Nominee Yoshi Sako from Den Sake in Oakland, California. Yoshi-san has really pushed the envelope with what sake can be, using American-grown rice, specifically Yamada Nishiki rice grown in the Sacramento Valley by the Lagrande Family. Yoshi likes to make sake to pair with food he likes, and with the Bay Area being abundant in outstanding cuisine from all over the world, it makes sense that Den Sake has a very enjoyable brightness that is easy to drink with food or by itself. Come swing by and support a local maker in the Bay Area, taste for yourself, and find out what it takes to be nominated for the illustrious James Beard award.
