Isshobin Month – Here Is Your Reminder For “Issho Month” Starting Nov 1st

Ok folks! Speaking about making sake history issue after issue, year after year you are also a very large part of our very own "Isshobin Month." You bet! This November will be our 3rd "Isshobin Month" and we look forward to breaking last year's record of 215 bottles of 1.8L goodness. The first year 185 bottles flew off the shelf.

If you recall, starting on November 1st, every 60oz bottle called Isshobin will be 20% off, which is pretty awesome considering that Isshos are the value category to begin with. Basically an Isshobin is 2 regular bottles (24oz) + 12 free ounces for a total of 60 fluid ounces of liquid love.

And guess what? Isshobin Month has become a thing in the US and abroad thanks to fun sake partners like The Sake Shop in Hawaii. So tell everybody. We want this value movement to go global, especially in Japan! It's a great way for sake fans to get a little discount for their holiday party purchases and personal home collections!

Why November? Because I once took a picture of two Isshos side by side and it looked like an 11. And now you know the rest of the story.

Here are my Top 5 Issho Recommendations:

Tamagawa Junmai Ginjo Muroka Nama Genshu "Ice Breaker"
First and foremost, we are the only place outside of Japan that has this 1.8L format of Ice Breaker, because the producer Philip Harper is cool as ice and happens to like his buddies at True Sake. Secondly, it is my go-to bottle of sake to bring to a party, because everybody loves Ice Breaker!

Takenotsuyu Junmai "Bamboo Tears"
Not only did I name this sake, it was that or Bamboo Dew, it is one of those brews that does better aging in an “oxidizing” bottle that has been opened and kept around for a while. Start cold, then try it at room temperature, then warm it! It is soft, smooth, Yamagata goodness in a big old bottle.

Kudoki Jozu Junmai Ginjo "Pick-Up Artist"
Only good things happen when you open this excellent bright and superbly balanced bottle of Yamagata Junmai Ginjo. Another sake that is loved by the “dry” and “fruity” lovers in the sake world, which begs the question why? Because of that balance!

Shinkame Junmai "Holy Turtle"
Admit it! You have never tried Shinkame, and instead of me belittling you, calling you names, and saying SHAME on you “shame shame shame” (sound of the bell ringing), I will simply say this is a 2 year-aged food pairing monster and Yakitori’s best friend. Anything from your grill would love jumping into this brew from – wait I’m not going to tell you, you’ll figure it out when you get it for Isshobin Month.

Dassai 23 Junmai Daiginjo
Wait what? Why is Dassai in such a large format? Do the maths buddy! Look at that price, and look how much free ultra-milled sake you will get with an Isshobin! Plus it looks awesome, makes you look awesome, and you’ll feel awesome enjoying the most globally dominant premium Junmai Daiginjo sake in the world!

*All 1.8L bottles are for Store Pick Up. You’ll only see the local pick up option if a 1.8L is in your cart.
